August 2, 2023October 2, 2023 Vuelta de Vasco- Spain 2022 This was such an unforgettable trip. Five days of bike packing the Basque region of northern Spain. Unfortunately, I was not in the blogging mindset after the conclusion of this trip. So here is the long delayed post. I’ll keep the word brief here and let the images speak for themselves. Spain is beautiful in so many ways it is overwhelming at times. The scenery, the food, the people, the history and intensity of political conviction. Prior to this trip, I had never even heard the word “Basque” before, and knew nothing of the regional variety inherent in Spanish culture. Much like my own country, people and culture varies widely from one place to another. Before going on this trip, I also found out that part of my genetic roots originated in northern Spain, not too far from where we were riding. I knew my Mom’s side of the family came to America from Spain and Italy, but I was completely ignorant of the specific regions that they originated from. This total coincidence added so much personal significance to this trip for me, and made all the more meaningful. I feel so grateful that i was able to immerse myself in all this by riding through the 350 miles Vuelta de Vasco route in Basque country. Trip Reports
